Nearly 25 people arrested in raids linked to drug dealing and violence in Camden Town

Nearly 25 people were arrested in a wave of early morning raids with drugs and cash seized linked to drug dealing and violence in Camden High Street, near Camden Lock Market.

Up to 25 men aged between 18 and 37 were arrested last week for a range of offences, including possession and supply of Class A and Class B drugs.

Det Ch Supt Iain Raphael, Central North’s borough commander, said: “Today’s operation forms part of our ongoing commitment to tackle drug dealing and the associated violence in Camden and Islington. This activity forms part of our wider drugs strategy, and links to the work we are carrying out in partnership with Camden Council under the Youth Safety Taskforce.

“We are doing a huge amount to tackle the drugs trade and associated violence in Camden and Islington, and we will be relentless in the pursuit of this objective in order to keep our communities safe.”

It’s great to see that this is the result of fantastic collaborative work between DCS Iain Raphael, the Met and Cllr Georgia Gould who have been working in partnership to reduce crime and keep our young people safe.

Our recent ‘In Conversation With…’ event made clear that the increase in drug-related crime is a major concern for the residents of the Camden area. Therefore, we are pleased that starting from the 5th of November, the ward will have a fully dedicated team of officers made up of a sergeant and four support officers in addition to the security team CTU funds through its business rate levy.

These raids are a great example of how we can work in partnership and tackle the issue of drug-related crime. We hope to see more of these effective initiatives in the future!
